3 Minute Quinoa and Chia Porridge Recipe

I don’t know what your place is like in the morning, but there is only one word to describe mine – chaos. To be more precise, utter madness and complete chaos. Between frantically getting three kids ready for school, heated debates with an eight and six year old about what will and won’t go into their lunchboxes and scrambling for lost car keys, mobile phones, spelling books and soccer boots, I only have a few minutes to get breakfast on the table.  If you feel yourself nodding in agreement then this quick and easy recipe is for you. My creamy 3 Minute Quinoa and Chia Porridge is wholesome, comforting, nutritious, gluten free* and perfect fuel for a busy day ahead.

Macro Organic Quinoa Flakes are much faster to whip up in the morning than regular quinoa so I always opt for flakes when time is of the essence. Quinoa flakes are essentially just rolled quinoa so they cook in less time, perfect when you are rushed for time. Quinoa is a source of fibre and iron while chia seeds provide fibre and plant-based omega 3, so you’ll feel great knowing your morning bowl is packed with so much goodness. Quinoa and chia are both naturally gluten free so they are a great alternative to oats in the morning.

Feel free to use milk of your choice for specific dietary needs, all milk variations work in this recipe. If your porridge has thickened too much, simply add an extra splash of milk to loosen it for a creamy texture. Top with your favourite nut and fruit combinations as I have done in these photos. I sprinkled my porridge with grated apple, chopped pistachio, flaked almonds, cinnamon and a date syrup drizzle. For something extra special, why not sprinkle with Macro Organic Toasted Coconut Flakes with Sea Salt? Enjoy!

Sounds delicious and can’t wait to make it! Would this work in the microwave?

Yes it would Gemma but microwave strengths vary so I would test in 1 minute increments. Enjoy!

Delicious. I’ve made it 2 mornings in a row. Even converted my oat porridge eating husband on to it.

Hi Helen, love this recipe. Have been making it for a while now. But do you know how fattening it would be. I use maple syrup on mine.

The only fat comes from whatever type of milk you choose so choose the lowest fat option if that is your concern.

I don’t have a calorie count for the recipe.
